Visit to the Buffalo Science Museum

I have to admit, I'm not the most organized individual. In fact, when I said I was planning on homeschooling our daughter after moving to Buffalo, where the school district's perform at less than 15% passing, my husband wasn't UN-supportive, but the subtle roll of his eyes indicated that maybe this artistic and disorganized, and admittedly "scatterbrained" mom may not be able to handle homeschooling. But after a few months, our daughter, who just turned four, is already excelling at kindergarten reading/writing/math skills, loves art, enjoys yoga, and has a passion for science and animals that I don't think I would have appreciated had I opted for a local preschool.

We go to the zoo (even yesterday when it was cold and the animals were hiding out in hibernation), go to the museum, and she just ran up to me screaming "Mommy! I want to do school!" after finishing a messy but beautifully painted Christmas stocking. I guess it's these little moments that I would be missing, that I don't want to miss. And sure, our schooling is more like an  hour here and an hour there, and spontaneous field trips when we get bored of the indoors (library today anyone?), but it's a wonderful experience and I am blessed to be able to enjoy it!
